propaganda from the Russo-Japanese War of 1904-5,
The Russian (Rusuke) (ロスケ) in green is saying “Watakushimo wo Shini sou desu”, I think I am dying or words to that effect that one commonly says while taking it up the poop chute.
The Japanese (Nihei) (日兵) in khaki is saying “Sugu dotome wo sashite yarou”, or roughly said, “We strike the finishing blow right away”! A play on words using dotome, finishing off a dying person in a coup de grace by stabbing with a sword, to the type of stabbing as depicted.
The Russian troops in the background entitled again (Rusuke) are saying “Hayaku nigeyou”, basically “I’m out of here” before he stuffs me!
